Shine Bright, Darling

Change always begins with a single thought: hope. When you’re hopeful and expectant for something, it sets a spark alight in your soul and changes how you see everything. By this it sets you on a new path as the spark illuminates the dark areas of confusion and replaces it with clarity and purpose.

Light is an interesting concept. No matter how deep the darkness may seem, the tiniest of bright lights will always intercept and subdue its power.

I like to think of light as our purpose and calling – the ‘good stuff’ embedded within us just waiting to be lived out. It has been put in there because it’s what the world needs and what makes your soul sing and come alive; what we were created for.

Along the way though, this can become a little messy. Our hope turns into insecurity and unbelief in what we can do and who we are. We retreat to comfort and do the baseline, instead of taking the risks needed to push us through and blossom into the true beauty we were intended to be.

Marianne Williamson once said, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

What’s your dream? What do you like about yourself? What are you proud of that you have done or are doing?

Have you ever been intimidated by your dreams and the beauty you know you can bring into this world? I’m the first to raise my hand.

Who am I to be brilliant, talented, and fabulous?

I am all of those things and more. You are all of those things and more. We are all of those things and more.

We don’t believe in ourselves nearly as much as those around us do. The next time someone encourages or tells you something that resonates with your soul, listen to it instead of shaking it off.

Believe in yourself.

Be proud of you.

You are more incredible and remarkable than you’ll ever realise.

A candle doesn’t realise how much it shines or what scent it leaves in the room it’s in; it simply burns when lit. The size of the candle doesn’t effect how bright it shines either. Once lit, it just burns and displays light. But that’s the key – it must be lit. A candle may look pretty simply sitting there, but the real magic happens once lit.

Often we can get caught up in the comparison game and forget we are incomparable in design, yet similar in purpose – each of us needs to be used.

Believe in yourself more.

Be hopeful.

What is your hope? Search for and let it set yourself alight with it.

Shine bright, darling.
